Hope for Women: African Market Baskets

Hand-crafted African Market Baskets are a big seller! ! These beautiful baskets make a trip to the Farmers Market feel elegant, a little exotic even. There are so many styles to choose from! No two are exactly alike! And you can feel good about your purchase too. Fair Trade Certified means that ladies making baskets in cooperatives across Africa are paid a livable wage and have good working conditions. Right now this association brought to the U.S.A. by The Overseas Connection, Ltd. is building a community weaving center that will serve 4 villages and over 400 weavers, providing basic school supplies for all the weavers' children in one village, and paying to register the weavers and their families to enable them to receive free health care for a whole year.

Locally Grown Clothing Co.

Just two guys, Kelsey and Fred, selling Farmers Market t-shirts from a booth at a Farmers Market in Des Moines, Iowa, that’s how Locally Grown Clothing Co. got started. It didn’t take them long to realize their message really resonated with folks far and wide: Carefully sourced, made in the U.S.A. apparel from a company that is inspired by the resurgence of farmers markets and the sustainable agriculture movement. Now they sell shirts all over the country - including the Co-op!
